Empowering Multilingual Learners in Classrooms

This course, designed for educators in international settings, provides essential insights and methodologies to effectively support multilingual learners (MLLs). It draws from the LEAVES framework, emphasizing the importance of Language, Exposure, Acquisition, Validation, Engagement, and Scaffolding in teaching. Participants will engage in practical strategies that affirm MLLs’ identities while promoting language acquisition and academic success. Over three structured sections, educators will explore effective instructional techniques, assess their effectiveness in real classrooms, and collaborate with peers to share experienced solutions for common challenges. By the end of the course, participants will have a toolkit of resources and strategies to implement in their classrooms, fostering an inclusive and affirming environment that validates the identities of multilingual students.
